I do not see the correlation between abuse and consensual. I have never heard of a person consenting to being abused. It can’t be abuse if you don’t challenge the situation. And if you had read the book you would know that there were plenty of times where she told him she didn’t want to do something. She is a grown woman who has made the decision to enter a relationship with a man who comes with a lot of baggage.
